Lisbon-based artist Natalia Gromicho’s Exhibition in London
Lisbon-based expressionist painter Natália Gromicho‘s exhibit at Hay Hill Gallery in London from September 29 – October 25, 2014 with a private viewing on September 30th. Gromicho is an internationally recognized artist whose work is often concerned with perception and reality. She is known for creating paintings that are as energetic as the streets of Lisbon itself, and it is easy to see the personal influence of this bright, chaotic city within her artwork. From her painted lines scrawled over deserted pastel buildings, to her famous faceless figures – the artist captures something intense and poetic.
The reoccurring image of a headless and armless female mannequin verges on the surreal, and within this metaphysical framework Gromicho paints with an ‘anything-might-happen’ wildness. Her paintings are slowly piecing together a philosophical mosaic. As the demand for her work increases, her unique vision becomes more clear. She is the winner of numerous art competitions and contests, but her favorite was the Best Rolling Stone Alternative Logo for a major Portuguese radio commercial in 1999, where she won a trip to London to meet the Rolling Stones during their Bridges to Babylon Tour in Wembley.
Gromicho’s career spans more than two decades. She studied at the Faculdade de Belas Artes de Lisboa, and also graduated from the prestigious painting program at the private ArCo School of Art in Lisbon. Having participated in more than 50 solo and group exhibitions, the artist has represented her country well, showcasing art in Italy, Brazil, New York, Miami, London, Australia and more. Her works are held in private and institutional collections worldwide.
Hay Hill Gallery maintains a distinct profile and represents a number of internationally recognized contemporary artists. The gallery expanded into their beautiful space located in the heart of London at 35 Baker Street near Berkeley Square. Hay Hill Gallery became better known for their specialist collection of Rodin sculptures exhibited alongside contemporary artists like Natalia Gromicho, one of the gallery’s represented artists.
