Abby Modell Contemporary Art Glass Showcase at Collectible NY Design Fair

Fine art collectors and design aficionados are invited to experience contemporary glass artist Abby Modell‘s solo exhibition at Collectible NY, taking place at Water Street Projects in Manhattan’s Financial District September 5 – 8, 2024 with a VIP preview on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024. This spectacular showcase at Collectible NY Design Fair features Modell’s new Galaxy Collection, embodying the movement and luminosity of the universe. Focusing on imaginary Celestial Waterfalls and Cosmic Butterflies, one-of-a-kind, hand-blown and flat glass work featuring three-dimensional wall art, large sculptural objects and LED lighting. Exploring contemporary glass techniques and forms, this exciting collection features Modell’s specialty – hand applied glass assemblages.

Centered around an ombre color pallet of Icy Star hues, beautiful frosty shades of glass mixed with Bright Cosmo colors create this unusual celestial pallet. By adding fire-polished and dichroic glass, Swarovski crystals and faceted glass RockGems with mirrored surfaces to her work, Modell’s Cosmic Starburst collection creates infinite reflections in a dazzling dreamy dimension. Let your imagination guide you. With each new collection, the renowned glass artist strives to push her creative design dreams to the next level. This journey, either in the hot shop or in the finishing studio, is where the magic happens as each piece comes to life.

Collectible NY is the only fair exclusively dedicated to contemporary collectible design, with its exclusive New York debut at Water Street Projects in Manhattan’s Financial District, taking place Thursday, September 5th through Sunday, September 8th, with a VIP Preview on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024. The artist creates one-of-a-kind hand-blown glass featuring three-dimensional wall art, large sculptural objects and LED lighting. At Collectible NY, Abby Modell’s work will be exhibited as a solo artist by her gallery, Abby Modell Contemporary Art Glass Gallery, where art and design lovers will experience Modell’s dreamy Galaxy Collection at Collectible NY, the international design fair highlighting the best of contemporary collectible design.

The studio honors and preserves the earth and our resources by recirculating applied glass into many of the artists pieces during their creation. “Matte, mirrored and gloss glass with mixed crystals create textural cosmic surfaces. I strive to visually expand dimension by incorporating reflective and metallic hues within my work. Organic shapes push the boundaries of contemporary design. Ombre color palettes mixed with dichroic glass further illustrate my expression, creating rainbows of light. I have the unique opportunity to present a cohesive collection by featuring my work as a solo artist in my gallery. My viewers are enticed and become immersed into my imaginary playful galactic journey of unusual colors and creative designs,” said renowned glass artist Abby Modell of her work.

Modell’s collection is represented at fine art fairs including Art Palm Beach (2023, 2024 and 2025), Hamptons Fine Art Fair (2021, 2022 and 2023), Scope Miami (2019 and 2021), Art New York, SOFA Chicago and the Architectural Digest Design Show, NYC. Abby Modell was commissioned by Bloomingdale’s to create the ‘Candy WonderLandscape’ windows as a part of their 2023 NYC Holiday Windows themed in conjunction with the ‘Wonka’ movie. The collection was highlighted by The New York Times and Abby Modell was interviewed on NBC New York Live and FOX-5 Good Day New York. The Boca Raton Museum of Art conducted a private Collector’s Tour of Abby Modell’s work through the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass (AACG) in 2024. Her work was selected for and exhibited at the First Heclectik-Art Glass International Biennial in Braga, Portugal in 2022.

Modell’s work is in and has been exhibited at private homes, corporate collections and museums, including the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the world headquarters of Morgan Stanley in New York City, the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, the Wit Gallery at Canyon Ranch, Lenox, MA, and the First International Biennale of Santorini, Greece. Commissioned collections include Royal Caribbean International’s Symphony of the Seas luxury cruise ship, and the Faberge Big Egg Hunt in New York City.
