Saturday, March 12th from 4-5pm Miami-based Icelandic artist, Magnus Sigurdarson, leads a tour of the first American museum exhibition of his fellow Icelander Hreinn Fridfinnsson at the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at MDC. A longtime admirer of Fridfinnsson’s practice, Sigurdarson looks at For the Time Being from an artist’s point of view, sharing his unique insights about the works at MOAD. He also offers a perspective on the distinctly Icelandic qualities of Fridfinnson’s poetic art.
Magnus Sigurdarson has exhibited his work at Reykjavik Art Museum, the Icelandic Consulate in Berlin, Dimensions Variable, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, and Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami. He studied art at Studio Cecil and Graves, Florence, Italy (1988); The Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts (1992); and Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey (1997).
