NSU Art Museum presents a Live Virtual Lecture with Dr. Rocky Ruggiero
March 23, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Tuesday, March 23rd from 5:30 – 6:30pm NSU Art Museum presents a live, online art lecture with Dr. Rocky Ruggiero and Bonnie Clearwater, NSU Art Museum Director and Chief Curator via Zoom on the subject of, Le Temps Revient. In 1469, at a legendary joust in Florence’s Piazza Santa Croce, Lorenzo “il Magnifico” de’ Medici’s standard bore the motto “joyful times will return.” He inaugurated a golden age of rebirth for his city, that followed more than a half-century of political, social and economic turmoil, that would resonate throughout Italy. Artists such as Botticelli, Verrocchio, da Vinci and Michelangelo would all develop under Medici largesse and exported their Florentine genius to other Italian cities. This webinar will explore the extraordinary period of cultural rebirth in Italy at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries, which should remind us still today that Le Temps Revient. RSVP here.
