Thursday, September 19th from 5 – 9pm meet up on Pérez Art Museum Miami’s (PAMM) waterfront terrace for a night of music and movies! Kick off the evening with live music by the Ben Beal Trio and happy hour specials from Verde. Then, pick a spot on PAMM’s beachfront steps for a special Floating Films Movie Night with Ballyhoo Media.
In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, watch “Selena” (1997), a biographical drama about Selena Quintanilla (Jennifer Lopez), who is born into a musical Mexican-American family in Texas. Her father, Abraham (Edward James Olmos), realizes his young daughter is talented and begins performing with her at small venues. She finds success and falls for her guitarist, Chris Perez (Jon Seda), who draws her father’s ire. Seeking mainstream stardom, Selena begins recording an English-language album which, tragically, she would never complete.
The film will be screened from the water, and you are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets to set up the perfect sunset spot on the beach. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
