Thursday, June 29th from 7 – 8:15pm you are invited to attend PAMM’s Scholl Lecture Series, presented by Goldman Sachs, featuring world-renowned photographer Marilyn Nance at the Pérez Art Museum Miami. Across the past five decades, Nance has captured photographs of unique moments in the cultural history of the United States and the African Diaspora. During her stint as a photographer for the U.S. delegation of FESTAC 77 in Lagos, Nigeria, Nance photographed a comprehensive account of the festival which she recently published in Marilyn Nance: Last Day in Lagos.
A two-time finalist for the W. Eugene Smith Award in Humanistic Photography, Nance is a recipient of the 2022 Magnum Foundation Counter Histories Grant and 2023 New York State Council of the Arts Individual Artists Grant. Her work is in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA), and the Library of Congress.
