Magical and Surreal Paintings of Women by Veronica Winters
Contemporary artist Veronica Winters is known for her surreal paintings of iconic women. The artist works from her studio in Naples, Florida where she produces realistic oil paintings of important women throughout history. Her work is very romantic, sharing stories of feminine triumph and determination. The artist evokes a world of love, passion and beauty while giving insight into human emotions, dreams and goals.
“I want to inspire girls and women to discover, pursue, and enjoy their calling in life. Through my paintings of women that are recognized by cultured people everywhere, I attempt to create stories to humanize the iconic women. I paint their inner life and experiences so that we can identify with the role model to understand our own passion, emotions and challenges. I paint with the beauty of the vanished world to create the intricate human experiences”, explained the artist.Â
A graduate from Pennsylvania State University in 2005 with a Master of Fine Arts in Painting, the artist also attended the Grand Central Academy of Art and the Art Students League of New York. Winters established a successful art career over the years, developing her own style and unique form of expression.
The artist strives for her paintings and drawings to continue evolving and mature to the greatest extent possible both creatively and technically. “I aspire to make beautiful, powerful art that is rooted in the classical tradition, yet contains a contemporary aesthetic.” said Winters.
“As a very sensitive person who struggled through circumstances, opinions and stereotypes, I believe my paintings help women break through the self-limiting beliefs that cause emotional distress. We often give up, find excuses or settle for less because we don’t fully understand who we are to accomplish our potential. We’re pushed into the sphere of logic, getting out of touch with ourselves emotionally. The inner voice remains dormant or half-fulfilled, leading to severe unhappiness even when we seem to be successful professionally.”
The artist looks forward to every new painting she creates for personal fulfillment and viewers’ enjoyment. “My affinity for baroque style, that can be described as ‘over the top’ and the Venetian art and architecture is obvious in my work, filled with detail, elegance, and beauty. My art follows the principle of elaborate refinement.”
Winters also creates realistic colored pencil drawings of people, landscapes, interesting objects, still lifes and more.
