Meet Renowned Art Advisor Sebastien Laboureau

Sebastien Laboureau holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Ecole des Mines de Paris and a Master of Science in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics.  He benefits from an international experience in Management Control at AXA Group, and Investment Banking – Mergers and Acquisitions at Goldman Sachs. Long-time, art enthusiast and experienced art collector, he is a trusted Art Advisor, located both in Miami and Paris, with partners in Latin-America and Asia, trusted advisor of private collectors, and various institutions all over the world.

He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arts and Business Council in Miami and sits on the Creative and Design committee of the Beacon Council. He is regional representative for Continental Europe of the Art Fund Association, and serves on its Best Practices Committee. He is notably the Strategic Art Advisor of Institut Van Gogh, in Auvers-sur-Oise, of ACCOR hospitality Group (SOFITEL & PULLMAN brands). He is also the urban art specialist for the leading auction house in Miami, (FAAM) Fine Art Auction Miami, the special curator of France Pavilion, and an art consultant for leading art galleries in Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and Bogota.

Sebastien Laboureau was chosen as Art Advisor to the Sagamore Hotel, the ‘Art Hotel’ in South Beach for over 16 years. The hotel recently launched Sagamore Salon, a monthly Meet The Artist series and Happy Hour featuring local artists discussing their work, hosted by Laboureau. “The objective is not to show what everybody else is showing,” Laboureau says. “The objective is to show some of the iconic art pieces that we all know but also to show a wide diversity in artistic expression. This is the first exhibit that we are putting together and really building programming all year long that’s going to encompass all these amazing, energetic, artistic diversities that characterize Miami right now.”

The renowned art advisor and curator produced the Sagamore Salon and will create other future programs at the hotel in partnership with various museums, galleries, and artists. Laboureau says his goal is to create an ambitious art program and exhibits that continue to further the cultural legacy of the Sagamore. “The idea is really to have very proactive, dynamic, innovative art programming that could be able to create a wonderful destination in South Beach,” he explains.

As a respected and independent expert on the art market, he is a keynote speaker to various private banks, family offices, art fairs and public institutions to give lectures and conferences on the art market and on selected art history topics. He specializes in areas of Art & Finance, Art Investment, Pop Art, Urban Art, and topics related to the secondary market. Sebastien Laboureau, as a street art expert, was most recently featured in USA Today for his selection of the “10 Best: Cities to see Street Art”.
