Miami’s Beloved Street Art Photographer Diana Larrea’s Wild Streets
Wynwoodmurals.com are pleased to present Wild Streets by Miami-based photographer Diana Larrea at Butter Gallery April 11-June 13, 2015. Following her participation in Butter Gallery’s group photo exhibit The It Click in 2010, the photographer mostly known by her nickname Parcialmente Nublada, returns to the gallery’s main exhibition space and it’s adjacent Gesamtkunstwerk Projektraum with a selection of images from her active role in the documentation of the Miami street art scene. Wild Streets opens on April 11th at Butter Gallery in the Wynwood Arts District at 2930 NW 7 Avenue, Miami Florida 33127.
As editor of WynwoodMurals.com and the Miami correspondent for numerous international street art publications Diana Larrea has become an important part of the increasingly relevant urban artistic movement. In this her first solo exhibit, the images of the Peruvian born photographer depart from her documentarian approach and into a candid photo journalism that brilliantly captures the nomadic and free spirited nature of the street art movement. “Wild Streets is a more personal and photo-journalistic approach to my work. While documenting the street art movement of Miami, I have learned about the interaction between the streets and the artist”, says Larrea about her latest body of work.
“One of the most rewarding aspects of capturing the relationship between artist and landscape is understanding the complex dynamics. The interaction with the communities and how ephemeral street art can be. Through photography I have witnessed the honest and sometimes wild side of Miami’s urban culture.” says Larrea.
